JourKnows on Sail:

Creativity Shall

Continue

After months of silence and lurking in the shadows, the young journalists and artists of Zamboanga del Norte National High School have finally stepped out of the darkness and re-amplified their craft as the School-Based Press Conference and Media Arts Expo recommence.

Supposed to happen separately, the school-based press conference and media arts festival is fused and will be conducted virtually for the safety of the students and teachers. Now that the journalistic and creative warfare has started, the battle is as exhilarating as ever, and the young scribes and creators are in high hopes for smooth sails and fair winds during the competition.

With the utilization of technology and innovation, the contest is divided into five days held via Google Meet, but the awarding is said to commence face-to-face in the Zamboanga del Norte Convention and Sports Center. The joint efforts of the teachers, staffs, and student-teachers of the school and the active participation of the students really justified the phrase “JOURNALISM AND CREATIVITY SHALL CARRY ON”.

As the online competition inaugurates, delegates can acquire more opportunities with less hassle since it is known that Zamboanga del NorteNational High School currently has students living outside the city and in near municipalities. Although there are challenges in handling the virtual contest given the unprecedented crisis, facilitators are alert in answering queries and are lenient towards participants experiencing problems with their internet connection.

Through this activity, creativity is allowed to foster, thus empowering the young minds of ZNNHS to hone their skills and showcase their talents in media arts and journalism. The Media Arts Expo dubbed “The Oscars of ZNNHS” gives students a vital contribution to their campus journey: a platform to express and exhibit and a wonderful experience to remember.

The pandemic has kept us in the shadows for too long, and the School-Based Press Conference and Media Arts Expo is a way to re-amplify our craft and let creativity prevail in these trying times. This proves that the pandemic is not a hindrance to molding 21st century creativity.
